Unable to find the Union Parishad chairman and secretary, service seekers locked themselves in the room
The service seekers alleged that Sawar UP Chairman Al Ibadat Hossain and administrative officer Mozaharul Islam are not regularly in the office. Due to this, the service seekers had to wait and return after coming to receive services.
However, UP Chairman Al Ibadat Hossain denied this allegation. He counter-alleged, saying, “The service seekers did not lock the room. The local leaders and workers of the political party locked the room. They did this to harass me in a planned manner.” I come to the council regularly.’
It was learned that during the locking of the UP office, more than a hundred leaders and activists of various political parties including Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, Jatiya Nagorik Party (NCP), Islami Andolan Bangladesh, AB Party, Khelafat Majlis were present.
Akhtaruzzaman, general secretary of the Taraganj Upazila Committee of the Islami Andolan, said that Sawar UP Chairman Al Ibadat Hossain and Secretary Mozaharul Islam are often absent. The common people who come to get services suffer. Due to this, the people deprived of services have locked their rooms out of anger. This is not a political issue.
Motasim Billa, the chief coordinator of the NCP upazila, said, ‘20 to 30 leaders and activists of six political parties went to the Union Parishad to exchange views with the UP Chairman. When I went, I saw a crowd of hundreds of people. The people locked the offices of the Chairman and Secretary without getting services.’
